Detroit Lakes, MN (KDLM) – The Minnesota Timberwolves’ postseason run came to a disappointing end Friday night, falling 139-109 to the San Antonio Spurs in Game Six of the Western Conference Semifinals at Target Center.
The Wolves stayed within striking distance through the opening quarter, but the wheels came off early in the second. San Antonio ripped off a 20-0 run to open the period, and Minnesota never recovered, trailing by double digits the rest of the way.
Anthony Edwards led the Wolves with 24 points, but the rest of the roster struggled to find any rhythm against a Spurs squad that controlled the tempo from the second quarter on. Turnovers, defensive lapses, and a cold shooting night doomed any hope of forcing a Game Seven.
The loss closes out the best-of-seven series 4-2 in favor of San Antonio, ending Minnesota’s bid to return to the Western Conference Finals for a second straight year.
The Spurs advance to face the winner of the other Western Conference Semifinal.
