Detroit Lakes, MN (KDLM) – The Minnesota Wild will try to dig themselves out of a 2-0 series hole when they host the Colorado Avalanche for Game Three of the Western Conference Semifinals tomorrow night at Grand Casino Arena.
The Wild dropped Game Two 5-2 in Denver this past Tuesday, after falling 9-6 in a wild Game One on Sunday. The Avalanche, who entered the postseason as the Presidents’ Trophy winners and the West’s top seed, remain a perfect 6-0 in the playoffs.
Special teams have been a problem for Minnesota. The Wild went 0-for-2 on the power play in Game Two, while Colorado converted on two of its five chances.
Head Coach John Hynes has not yet announced a starting goaltender for Game Three. Veteran Filip Gustavsson got the call in Game Two after rookie Jesper Wallstedt started the first seven games of the postseason.
The three-day break between games could benefit Minnesota in another way as well. Forward Joel Eriksson Ek and defenseman Jonas Brodin could both be healthy enough to return to the lineup.
Puck drop is set for 8:00PM at Grand Casino Arena. Game Four is Monday night, also in St. Paul.
