Detroit Lakes, MN (KDLM) – The Minnesota Twins were on the wrong end of a blowout Wednesday night, falling 15-2 to the Washington Nationals at Nationals Park.

The Twins actually held a 2-1 lead through four-and-a-half innings before things fell apart, with Washington plating 14 unanswered runs the rest of the way.

Matt Wallner provided one of the few bright spots for Minnesota, going deep in the losing effort. Starter Bailey Ober took the loss, his second of the season, after giving up five runs on six hits over five innings of work.

The Twins drop to 16-21 and remain in last place in the American League Central.

Minnesota looks to take the rubber match this afternoon when Simeon Woods Richardson takes the mound against the Nationals. First pitch is set for just after noon.
