Detroit Lakes, MN (KDLM) – The Minnesota Wild will try to even up the Western Conference Semifinals when they visit the Colorado Avalanche tonight in Game Two at Ball Arena.
The Wild trail the best-of-seven series 1-0 after dropping a high-scoring Game One on Sunday by a score of 9-6. Colorado defenseman Cale Makar led the Avalanche with two goals and an assist, earning first star honors, while Devon Toews added a goal and three assists. Nathan MacKinnon also chipped in a goal and two assists.
Quinn Hughes paced Minnesota with a goal and two assists in the loss. Marcus Johansson, Mats Zuccarello, and Marcus Foligno also found the back of the net for the Wild, who were outshot 43-36.
Brock Faber was a problem for Minnesota in Game One, taking three minor penalties. The Wild also surrendered four third-period goals after entering the final frame tied 5-5.
Puck drop tonight is set for 7:00 p.m.
