Detroit Lakes, MN (KDLM) – The Minnesota Wild dropped a heartbreaker in Game Three of their first-round Stanley Cup Playoff series against the Dallas Stars, falling 4-3 in double overtime at Grand Casino Arena.

Wyatt Johnston ended the marathon with the game-winner in the 13th minute of the second overtime, sending the Stars home with a 2-1 series lead in the best-of-seven set.

Minnesota got goals from three different skaters in the loss. Marcus Johansson, Joel Eriksson Ek, and Michael McCarron each found the back of the net, but the Wild couldn’t close out a Dallas squad that refused to go away.

The defeat is a tough one for a Minnesota team that came into the night looking to even the series on home ice.

Game Four is set for Saturday in St. Paul.
