Exciting news for Detroit Lakes! The bowl of the city’s new water tower was hoisted into place atop the concrete structure on April 13, marking a major milestone and bringing the community one step closer to completion of the project.
Once finished, the tower will stand 127 feet tall and hold up to 1.5 million gallons of water. Funding for the 8.3 million dollar project is planned through the Public Facilities Authority, which provides low-interest loans to municipalities. Finalization of this project is estimated to take place this summer.
Community members gathered throughout the day to watch the impressive lift. Aerial footage of the lift can be viewed on the “Loans and Drones” Facebook page.
