Detroit Lakes, MN (KDLM) – The Minnesota Wild scored four unanswered goals over the final two periods Tuesday night to pull away from the Seattle Kraken 5-2 at Grand Casino Arena Energy Center.
Seattle struck first and carried a 2-1 lead into the first intermission, but Minnesota seized control in the second period and never looked back. Marcus Foligno tied the game early in the second with an even-strength goal, and Vladimir Tarasenko followed with what proved to be the game-winner roughly 12 minutes later to put the Wild ahead 3-2.
Matt Boldy, who was named the game’s first star, added a goal and an assist. Marcus Johansson also tallied a goal and an assist, and Joel Eriksson Ek rounded out the scoring. Minnesota’s fifth goal came on an empty net.
The Wild outshot the Kraken 29-27 and dominated at even strength, converting on five of their even-strength goals while holding Seattle scoreless on three power-play opportunities.
The win extends Minnesota’s winning streak to four games and improves the club’s record to 45-21 on the season. The Wild have clinched a playoff spot and sit third in the Central Division, trailing Colorado and Dallas.
Minnesota heads to Dallas on Thursday for an 8 p.m. CDT matchup with the Stars.
