Detroit Lakes, MN (KDLM) – Kirill Kaprizov scored three goals Sunday to lead the Minnesota Wild to a 5-4 victory over the Detroit Red Wings at Little Caesars Arena.
Kaprizov, who finished with five shots on goal, converted twice at even strength and once on the power play to give Minnesota its third consecutive win. He was named the game’s first star.
Vladimir Tarasenko and Ryan Hartman also scored for the Wild, with Hartman adding two assists. Brock Faber chipped in an assist on the blue line.
Minnesota outshot Detroit 20-22 but converted at a 25 percent clip, compared to 18.2 percent for the Red Wings. The Wild went 1-for-2 on the power play; Detroit was held scoreless in one opportunity.
Patrick Kane led Detroit with a goal and an assist. J.T. Compher, Albert Johansson, and Dylan Larkin also scored for the Red Wings, who rallied for three third-period goals before falling short.
The Wild improve to third place in the Central Division with 100 points. Minnesota hosts the Seattle Kraken on Tuesday night.
