Detroit Lakes, MN (KDLM) – A late collapse cost the Minnesota Timberwolves on Thursday night, as the Detroit Pistons rallied from behind to earn a 113-108 victory at Little Caesars Arena — handing Minnesota its second loss in as many games to close out the regular season.
The Wolves appeared in control with just over eight minutes remaining, holding a four-point lead, but the Pistons responded with a punishing 13-1 run that effectively ended the game. Detroit outscored Minnesota 34-28 in the fourth quarter to seal the win.
Julius Randle was the bright spot for the Wolves, pouring in a game-high 27 points on an efficient 9-of-15 shooting, adding six rebounds and six assists. Naz Reid chipped in 19 points off the bench, and Mike Conley contributed 14 points while shooting 4-of-7 from three. However, sloppy play hurt Minnesota down the stretch — the team committed 14 turnovers, which Detroit converted into 18 points.
The loss drops the Wolves to 46-30 on the season. Minnesota will look to bounce back quickly — they travel to Philadelphia tonight to face the 76ers in the second leg of a back-to-back, where the Sixers are currently slight favorites.
