Detroit Lakes, MN (KDLM) – The Minnesota Timberwolves sent a statement Monday night, dismantling the Dallas Mavericks 124-94 at American Airlines Center to snap a recent skid and move to 46-29 on the season.
Minnesota controlled the game from the opening tip, building a lead as large as 33 points and never looking back. The Wolves shot 53.1% from the field and held Dallas to just 34.8% shooting, a lopsided effort on both ends of the floor.
Julius Randle led the way offensively, pouring in 24 points on 9-of-14 shooting — including three triples — to go with four assists. But the story of the night was Ayo Dosunmu, who authored one of the more complete performances of the season. The guard-turned-forward recorded a triple-double with 18 points, 15 rebounds, and 12 assists while playing a plus-30 in the game’s best plus/minus showing.
Anthony Edwards made his return from injury and provided an instant spark, finishing with 17 points on efficient 53.8% shooting. The Wolves’ bench also came up big, outscoring Dallas’ reserves 53-41.
Minnesota dominated in the paint, outscoring the Mavericks 68-42 down low, and forced 15 Dallas turnovers, converting those into 20 points. The Wolves also got out in transition, piling up 33 fast break points on the night.
Minnesota currently holds the five seed in the Western Conference. They’ll visit the Detroit Pistons on Thursday. The Wolves will be without forward Jaden McDaniels for that contest, as he has been listed as week-to-week with a knee injury.
