Detroit Lakes, MN (KDLM) – The Minnesota Wild couldn’t keep pace with a hot Boston Bruins squad Saturday afternoon, falling 6-3 at TD Garden in a game that was closer than the final score suggested.

Boston broke the game open early, scoring twice in the first period while holding Minnesota off the board. The Wild cut the deficit to 3-1 after one goal in the second, but the Bruins responded with a strong third period to put it out of reach.

Pavel Zacha was the standout performer for Boston, scoring twice and earning First Star honors. Elias Lindholm also netted a pair, including an empty-netter to seal the win, while Viktor Arvidsson chipped in a goal and an assist for Second Star recognition. Andrew Peeke rounded out the scoring for the Bruins.

Minnesota got goals from Kirill Kaprizov and Mats Zuccarello, and Ryan Hartman provided a two-point night with a goal and an assist. Hartman’s late third-period tally briefly made it a 4-3 game and gave the Wild some life, but Zacha and Lindholm quickly answered to put Boston ahead for good.

Despite outshooting the Bruins 34-31, Minnesota struggled to convert, finishing with a shooting percentage of just 8.8 percent compared to Boston’s 19.4 percent. The Wild also went 1-for-3 on the power play while Boston went scoreless on its two opportunities.

The loss drops Minnesota to 3rd place in the Central Division with 94 points. The Wild return home to Xcel Energy Center to host the Vancouver Canucks on Thursday night.
