Detroit Lakes, MN (KDLM) – The Minnesota Vikings made a pair of roster moves Monday, bringing in a proven veteran to anchor their special teams and pursuing an offensive line upgrade that hinges on a rival’s decision.

The team officially signed punter Johnny Hekker to a contract for the 2026 season. Entering his 15th year in the NFL, Hekker brings a wealth of experience to Minnesota, having earned four Pro Bowl selections during his career. His signing gives the Vikings one of the most decorated punters in the league at a position that plays a crucial role in field position battles.

On the offensive side, the Vikings submitted an offer sheet to offensive tackle Ryan Van Demark. However, Van Demark’s path to Minneapolis is not yet guaranteed — the deal will only go through if the Buffalo Bills decline to match Minnesota’s offer. The Bills hold the right to retain Van Demark by meeting the terms of the sheet.
