Zuccarello’s OT Heroics Snap Wild’s Skid in 4-3 Win Over Blackhawks

Detroit Lakes, MN (KDLM) – Mats Zuccarello ended it in dramatic fashion.

The veteran winger potted the game-winning goal in the fourth minute of overtime Tuesday night, lifting the Minnesota Wild to a 4-3 victory over the Chicago Blackhawks at United Center and snapping a frustrating three-game losing streak in the process.

Zuccarello’s clutch tally capped a resilient effort from Minnesota, which had also gotten goals from Ryan Hartman, Marcus Johansson, and Vladimir Tarasenko in regulation. The Wild needed every one of them, as Chicago pushed the game to overtime and kept the pressure on throughout.

The win couldn’t have come at a better time for Minnesota, which had dropped three straight and was in danger of watching its playoff positioning slip. The Wild sit third in the Central Division with 90 points and will look to build on the momentum immediately — the two teams are set to meet again Thursday night, this time in St. Paul.
