Detroit Lakes, MN (KDLM) – The Minnesota Timberwolves used a dominant late-game surge to dispatch the Phoenix Suns 116-104 Tuesday night at Target Center.
With the game knotted at 80 heading into the final stretch of the third quarter, Minnesota caught fire — rattling off a 29-13 run that effectively put the contest out of reach and left the Suns with little recourse down the stretch.
Julius Randle was the engine driving the Wolves’ offense, pouring in a game-high 32 points to lead all scorers. Guard Bones Hyland provided a significant boost off the bench, contributing 22 points in support of the winning effort.
The victory improves Minnesota to 42-27 on the season, leaving them tied for fifth place in a competitive Western Conference standings race. The Timberwolves won’t have long to celebrate, however — they return to the floor tonight when they host the Utah Jazz once again at Target Center.
