Detroit Lakes, MN (KDLM) – The Minnesota Wild continued their impressive run of form Thursday, defeating the Colorado Avalanche 5-2 at Ball Arena to extend their winning streak to six games.
Joel Eriksson Ek was the hero of the night, burying a go-ahead goal late in the second period and finishing with two tallies on the evening. Mats Zuccarello added an insurance marker in the third, and Matt Boldy sealed the victory with a pair of empty-net goals.
The win pushes Minnesota to 80 points on the season, good for second place in the Central Division. The Wild won’t have much time to celebrate, however — they’re back in action tonight when they visit the Utah Mammoth.
