Warriors Vs Lakers in Section 8A Championship Tonight

Detroit Lakes, MN (KDLM) – The stage is set for a marquee showdown in Thief River Falls tonight as the Warroad Warriors and the Detroit Lakes Lakers play in the 2026 Class A Section 8A Boys Hockey Championship.

Puck drop is scheduled for 7 p.m. at the Ralph Engelstad Arena, with a state tournament berth on the line. Detroit Lakes arrives at this moment on the heels of one of the most memorable wins in program history. The Lakers stunned East Grand Forks on Feb. 20, a victory that punched their ticket to the section final.

When these two teams met on January 17th, Warroad handled Detroit Lakes 7-4. It’s been 30 years since DL’s last tournament appearance. Tonight, one way or another, Section 8A will have its state tournament representative.
