Detroit Lakes, MN (KDLM) – The Minnesota Twins put together a strong performance in Lakeland, Florida on Monday, blanking the Detroit Tigers 3-0 behind a dominant pitching effort and two home runs.
Mick Abel was the story on the mound, punching out five batters over three scoreless innings while holding the Tigers to just three hits on the afternoon. The Twins’ pitching staff was stingy throughout, never allowing Detroit to find any offensive rhythm.
Offensively, Emmanuel Rodriguez and Alex Jackson both went deep, providing all the run support Minnesota would need.
With the victory, Minnesota moves to 2-1 in Grapefruit League play. They’re back in action this afternoon with split-squad matchups against the Baltimore Orioles and the Tampa Bay Rays.
