Detroit Lakes, MN (KDLM) – The Minnesota Vikings announced changes to their offensive coaching staff Friday, promoting assistant Ryan Cordell and adding a new hire to bolster the offensive line.

Cordell, who previously served as the team’s passing game specialist, has been promoted to tight ends coach and game management coordinator. He replaces Brian Angelichio, who left Minnesota last month to become the offensive coordinator for the Pittsburgh Steelers.

In his expanded role, Cordell will oversee the Vikings’ tight ends room while also assisting with in-game decision-making and management duties.

The Vikings also announced the hiring of Derek Warehime as assistant offensive line coach. Warehime was set to begin his first season as run game coordinator at the Kentucky Wildcats football before making the jump to the NFL.

Warehime brings extensive collegiate coaching experience and is expected to assist with the development of Minnesota’s offensive front.

The moves come as the Vikings continue shaping their coaching staff ahead of the 2026 season, aiming to strengthen both their offensive execution and game management structure.
