The Manna Food Co-op is welcoming the community to its new downtown location with a grand opening celebration on January 8, 2026.
The cooperatively owned grocery store is now located at 801 Washington Avenue in Detroit Lakes and will host an open house beginning at 5 p.m., with samples and special promotions available throughout the day.
According to Ryan Pesch, Manna Food Co-op focuses on offering local and organic foods, including fresh produce, meat, dairy products, and locally crafted items. Pesch serves as co-manager of the co-op alongside his wife, Maree Pesch, since 2011.
Pesch also says that thanks to funding from the U.S. Department of Agriculture, the co-op recently built a shared commercial kitchen, giving local farmers and entrepreneurs access to a certified space where they can produce licensed food products.
While everyone is welcome to shop at Manna, membership remains an important part of the cooperative’s mission. A one-time lifetime membership costs $150, with no monthly fees. Manna currently has nearly 1,200 members, who receive benefits such as 10 percent off produce, along with weekly specials and member-only perks.
Community members are encouraged to stop in, shop local, and attend the January 8 open house.
