Vikings Place Josh Metellus on Injured Reserve, Out for Season

Detroit Lakes, MN (KDLM) – The Minnesota Vikings will be without one of their most versatile defensive players for the remainder of the 2025 season.

The team placed safety Josh Metellus on injured reserve on Wednesday. Metellus is expected to undergo season-ending surgery on an injured shoulder later this week.

The loss is a significant blow to Minnesota’s defense. The sixth-year defensive back has been a key contributor this season, recording two interceptions and a half sack while providing flexibility across the secondary.

The Vikings (6-8) visit the New York Giants (2-11) on Sunday. Minnesota was eliminated from playoff contention earlier this week following a Chicago Bears victory.
