Detroit Lakes, MN (KDLM) – The Minnesota Twins were busy wheeling and dealing at yesterday’s Rule Five Draft, but one prospect’s time in the organization was incredibly brief.
The Twins selected catcher Daniel Susac from the Oakland A’s with the fourth overall pick. But Susac’s stint as a Twin lasted just about an hour before Minnesota flipped him to the San Francisco Giants in exchange for cash considerations and catcher Miguel Caraballo.
It was a quick turnaround that shows the Twins working the phones to add both financial flexibility and another catching prospect to their system.
The good news for Minnesota’s farm system? They didn’t lose any of their own minor leaguers in the draft, keeping their organizational depth intact while still making a move.
For the Twins, it’s another example of creative roster management as they continue shaping their organization heading into the new year.
