Wild Fall to Flames in Third-Period Collapse

Detroit Lakes, MN (KDLM) – The Minnesota Wild watched a tie game slip away in devastating fashion Thursday night, surrendering three unanswered goals in the third period during a 4-1 loss to the Calgary Flames at Scotiabank Saddledome.

After battling to a 1-1 deadlock through two periods, the Wild’s defense crumbled in the final frame. Matt Coronato broke the tie with the eventual game-winning goal, sparking a Calgary offensive explosion that Minnesota couldn’t answer.

Yakov Trenin provided the lone bright spot for the Wild, scoring their only goal of the night. Despite his effort, Minnesota’s offense struggled to generate sustained pressure against a Flames team that tightened defensively after Coronato’s crucial tally.

Minnesota will have little time to dwell on the defeat as they head to Vancouver to face the Canucks on Saturday night.
