A multi-agency law enforcement team executed a search warrant Wednesday afternoon in Detroit Lakes as part of an investigation into a stolen firearm.
According to the Becker County Sheriff’s Office, deputies, Detroit Lakes Police officers, and members of the Lakes Area SWAT Team carried out the warrant around 4:55 p.m. at a residence on the 200 block of Barbara Avenue.
The warrant stemmed from a pistol reported stolen earlier in the day from a home near Frazee. Investigators believed the firearm—thought to be loaded—was in the possession of a 27-year-old man living at the Detroit Lakes address.
Authorities say the operation was completed without incident. The investigation remains active, and no additional details have been released.
The Lakes Area SWAT Team includes personnel from the sheriff’s offices in Becker, Hubbard, and Wadena counties, along with officers from the Wadena and Staples Police Departments. Essentia–St. Mary’s EMS was staged nearby during the operation as a precaution.
