McCarthy Poised for Return as Vikings Prepare for Commanders Showdown

Detroit Lakes, MN (KDLM) – The Minnesota Vikings received encouraging injury news heading into their Week 14 matchup against the Washington Commanders, with quarterback JJ McCarthy appearing on track to reclaim his starting role.

McCarthy was listed as a full participant in Wednesday’s practice session, marking significant progress in his recovery from the concussion that sidelined him during last week’s game. The rookie signal-caller’s return would provide a substantial boost to Minnesota’s offense as they prepare to host Washington on Sunday.

The Vikings also welcomed back left tackle Christian Darrisaw, who participated fully in practice after dealing with his own injury concerns. Darrisaw’s presence on the offensive line will be crucial in protecting McCarthy should the quarterback return to action this weekend.

However, the injury report wasn’t entirely positive for Minnesota. Rookie guard Donovan Jackson was absent from Wednesday’s practice due to an ankle injury, creating some uncertainty along the interior of the offensive line.

The Vikings will release updated injury reports throughout the week leading up to Sunday’s kickoff. McCarthy’s status will be closely monitored as the team evaluates whether he has cleared all necessary concussion protocols.

Minnesota hosts Washington at U.S. Bank Stadium on Sunday, with kickoff at noon.
