The Laker boys’ basketball team dropped a hard-fought season opener Tuesday night at Lakeshirts Fieldhouse, falling to Brainerd 94–90.
Senior Brenden Severson paced the Lakers with 22 points in the losing effort, but it wasn’t enough to overcome a strong performance from Brainerd’s junior forward Aidan Gilbert, who led all scorers with 28 points.
The loss drops the Lakers to 0–1 on the young season. They’ll have a chance to get into the win column Thursday when they hit the road to face Bemidji. KDLM will have full coverage beginning at 7:15.
