Detroit Lakes, MN (KDLM) – The Minnesota Wild will aim for their third consecutive shutout when they visit the Chicago Blackhawks at United Center tonight, riding a wave of momentum behind exceptional goaltending and defensive play.
The puck drops at 7:30 p.m. as Minnesota (12-7-4, 28 points) looks to extend their five-game winning streak against a Blackhawks team they have dominated in recent years.
The Wild’s current hot streak includes back-to-back shutout victories. Filip Gustavsson blanked the Pittsburgh Penguins 5-0 on Friday, before Jesper Wallstedt made 32 saves in a 3-0 road victory over the Winnipeg Jets on Sunday.
Wallstedt has emerged as a revelation for Minnesota, recording three shutouts in his last four starts. The 23-year-old Swedish netminder leads the NHL with a .935 save percentage and a 1.94 goals-against average while posting a perfect 6-0-2 record to start the season.
After a difficult October, the Wild have transformed their season in November, posting a 9-1-1 record this month. That remarkable turnaround has propelled them into third place in the Central Division standings.
