Detroit Lakes, MN (KDLM) – The Minnesota Gophers continued their strong start to the season, defeating Chicago State 66-54 at Williams Arena on Tuesday night to improve to 4-1 on the year.
Cade Tyson paced the Gophers’ offense with a game-high 22 points, while Jaylen Crocker-Johnson contributed 15 points in the winning effort. The victory marked Minnesota’s second straight win as the team builds momentum early in the season.
Playing at “The Barn,” the Gophers controlled the contest against the Cougars, though Chicago State kept the game competitive throughout. Minnesota’s balanced attack and solid defensive performance proved to be the difference in securing the 12-point victory.
The Gophers will look to extend their winning streak when they return home to host the University of San Francisco this Saturday.
Minnesota’s 4-1 record represents a promising beginning to the campaign as the team continues to develop chemistry and find its rhythm heading into the heart of the season.
