Detroit Lakes, MN (KDLM) – The Minnesota Vikings suffered a heartbreaking 19-17 defeat to the Chicago Bears on Sunday at U.S. Bank Stadium, as Cairo Santos drilled a 48-yard field goal as time expired.
Quarterback JJ McCarthy appeared to have given the Vikings the win when he connected with Jordan Addison for a go-ahead touchdown with less than a minute remaining in regulation. However, after a big kick return on the ensuing kickoff, the Bears marched down the field to set up Santos’ game-winning kick.
McCarthy finished with 150 passing yards, one touchdown, and two interceptions in the losing effort.
The loss drops the Vikings to 4-6 on the season, leaving them in last place in the NFC North. Minnesota will look to bounce back when they travel to Green Bay to face the Packers this Sunday.
