Detroit Lakes, MN (KDLM) – Marcus Johansson played hero for the Minnesota Wild on Tuesday night, scoring the game-winner just four minutes into overtime to lift his team to a dramatic 3-2 victory over the Nashville Predators at Grand Casino Arena.
The thrilling finish came after Nashville’s Steven Stamkos sent the contest to overtime with a goal in the final second of regulation, silencing the home crowd and erasing what appeared to be a Wild victory.
But Johansson made sure Minnesota wouldn’t be denied, capitalizing in the extra frame to secure the crucial two points.
Kirill Kaprizov and Zeev Buium also found the back of the net for Minnesota, which has now won back-to-back games and sits tied for sixth place in the Central Division with 13 points.
The Wild will look to keep their momentum rolling when they travel to face the Carolina Hurricanes on Thursday night.
