Detroit Lakes, MN (KDLM) – The Minnesota Wild’s early-season struggles reached new depths Thursday night as they fell 4-1 to the Pittsburgh Penguins at Grand Casino Arena, extending their losing streak to five games.
Despite a promising start that saw Kirill Kaprizov light the lamp midway through the opening frame to give Minnesota a 1-0 advantage, the Wild were unable to maintain their momentum against a resilient Penguins squad.
The game remained close through two periods, but Pittsburgh broke through in the final frame with three unanswered goals to secure the victory.
The Wild will look to snap its skid when it returns to home ice Saturday night to host the Vancouver Canucks. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
