Detroit Lakes, MN (KDLM) – The Minnesota Vikings will be without quarterback Carson Wentz for the remainder of the 2025 season after the team announced Monday that he will undergo shoulder surgery later this week.
Wentz, who stepped into the starting role following JJ McCarthy’s ankle injury in Week Two, has been under center for the Vikings’ last five games. During his time as the starter this season, the veteran quarterback completed passes for 1,216 yards while throwing six touchdowns against five interceptions.
The injury marks another setback in what has been a challenging campaign for the Vikings’ quarterback room. With Wentz now sidelined, all eyes turn to McCarthy, who is expected to make his return as Minnesota’s starting quarterback this weekend when the team faces the Detroit Lions.
The Vikings will look to stabilize their offense as they push through the second half of the season with McCarthy back under center.
