Detroit Lakes, MN (KDLM) – The Minnesota Timberwolves suffered a deflating 127-114 defeat to the Denver Nuggets at Target Center on Tuesday night, and their struggles may only deepen with news that star guard Anthony Edwards will miss approximately two weeks with a hamstring strain.
The Timberwolves appeared in control during the first half, building an eight-point lead before the break. However, Denver seized control after halftime, outscoring Minnesota 70-49 over the final two quarters to pull away for the comfortable victory.
With Edwards sidelined, other Wolves players stepped up offensively. Forward Jaden McDaniels led the team with 25 points, while Julius Randle contributed 24 points in the losing effort. Despite the individual performances, Minnesota couldn’t match Denver’s second-half surge.
The loss drops the Timberwolves to 2-2 on the young season, but the bigger concern is Edwards’ absence. According to a report from NBA insider Shams Charania, the 24-year-old guard suffered the hamstring injury in the first quarter of Minnesota’s win over Indiana on Sunday. Edwards has been the team’s offensive catalyst this season, averaging 25.7 points per game.
The Timberwolves will look to rebound quickly as they host the Los Angeles Lakers on Wednesday night, though they’ll need to find ways to compensate for their leading scorer during his recovery period.
