New York Mills, MN – A Moorhead woman was recently sentenced for drug possession in rural New York Mills.

Court documents say that on Friday, October 10, 40-year-old Jennifer Lee Riepe was sentenced to 58 months in the Minnesota Correctional Facility in Shakopee for 2nd degree drug possession.

Riepe was arrested in May after an Otter Tail County Sergeant says he found 53.3 grams of methamphetamine and other drug paraphernalia in her car. Prosecutors say the Sergeant initiated a traffic stop after seeing Riepe appear to be on her phone while driving. The Sergeant said Riepe continued driving onto multiple roads before eventually turning into the public access parking lot on Rush Lake. Riepe was placed under arrest for fleeing, at which point, the Sergeant says he searched her and her vehicle and found 53.3 grams of meth, a digital scale, Ziploc baggies, and $875 in cash.

Court documents say Riepe told the Sergeant that she hadn’t stopped because she was scared and aware she didn’t have a valid driver’s license. Prosecutors charged Riepe with 1st degree sale of drugs, 2nd degree and 5th degree possession, and fleeing. In July, Riepe pleaded guilty to 2nd degree possession as part of a plea agreement, and the other charges were dismissed.
