Vikings QB McCarthy Targets Return After Bye Week

Detroit Lakes, MN (KDLM) – Minnesota Vikings quarterback JJ McCarthy won’t be using the team’s bye week for rest and relaxation. Instead, the second-year signal-caller will be putting in significant work on the practice field as he recovers from an ankle injury.

Head coach Kevin O’Connell announced that McCarthy will spend much of the next two weeks getting extensive practice reps as he works his way back from the ankle sprain that has sidelined him for the Vikings’ last three games.

The intensified practice schedule comes at a crucial time for Minnesota, as backup quarterback Carson Wentz is currently dealing with a shoulder injury of his own, adding uncertainty to the team’s quarterback depth chart.

McCarthy and the Vikings will return to game action following the bye week when they host the Philadelphia Eagles on October 19th.
