Detroit Lakes, MN (KDLM)M – The Minnesota Lynx suffered a devastating collapse at home Tuesday night, surrendering a 20-point third-quarter lead in an 89-83 overtime loss to the Phoenix Mercury in Game 2 of the WNBA Semifinals at Target Center.

The loss evens the best-of-five series at 1-1 as it shifts to Phoenix for Friday’s Game 3.

Minnesota appeared to be in complete control midway through the third quarter, holding a commanding 59-39 advantage. However, the Mercury stormed back with a furious rally, outscoring the Lynx 50-24 over the final 18 minutes of regulation and overtime to steal a crucial road victory.

Napheesa Collier led Minnesota with 24 points in the losing effort, but the Lynx offense went cold when it mattered most. After shooting efficiently through the first two and a half quarters, Minnesota struggled to find consistent scoring as Phoenix ramped up its defensive intensity.

The collapse represents a missed opportunity for the Lynx, who now face the daunting task of winning at least one game in Phoenix. Home-court advantage has now shifted to the Mercury, who will host Games 3 and 4 at Footprint Center.

Game 3 is scheduled for Friday night in Phoenix, with tipoff set for 8:00 p.m.
