Detroit Lakes, MN (KDLM) – The Minnesota Twins avoided a series sweep with a 6-2 victory over the Cleveland Guardians on Sunday afternoon at Target Field, using a late-inning rally to overcome an early deficit.
Trailing 2-1 entering the bottom of the sixth inning, the Twins found their spark when Brooks Lee stepped to the plate and launched a crucial two-run home run to give Minnesota a 3-2 lead. The go-ahead blast proved to be the turning point in what had been a tight defensive battle.
Royce Lewis added insurance with a home run of his own, helping the Twins pull away for the four-run victory.
Despite the series-salvaging win, the Twins remain in fourth place in the American League Central Division with a 67-89 record.
The Twins will hit the road for their next challenge, traveling to face the Texas Rangers on Monday night.
