Dilworth, MN – Some parents have voiced their concerns after Dilworth Glyndon Felton Public Schools informed the community of an investigation into a concerning message sent by a student.

On the school’s Facebook page, DGF Superintendent Shannon Hunstad says a concerning message in a small group chat among friends this weekend was reported to the School Resource Officer, who immediately relayed it to the Clay County Sheriff’s Department. The Sheriff’s Department investigated the incident and determined there was no credible threat to student or staff safety.

Hunstad says the schools remain safe and both sites will be open as scheduled today. In a later statement, he adds that out of an abundance of caution, the student involved will not be attending the high school today, and that the safety and well-being of the students and staff remain the school administration’s highest priority.

On both of the school’s posts regarding this incident, some parents and community members expressed concerns that the school has not given enough information about what made the message concerning. Others said they’re worried about what is being done to make sure the student doesn’t show up to the school anyways, or what happens when the student does return to school.

Superintendent Hunstad has not returned our request for comment.
