Detroit Lakes, MN (KDLM) – The Minnesota Twins staged a spectacular ninth-inning comeback, scoring four runs to defeat the Toronto Blue Jays 7-5 at Rogers Centre on Tuesday night.

Trailing 5-3 entering the final frame, the Twins mounted their game-changing rally with a pair of clutch home runs. Mickey Gasper led off the ninth inning with a game-tying solo shot, breathing new life into Minnesota’s comeback hopes.

Matt Wallner then delivered the knockout punch, launching a three-run homer that put the Twins ahead for good and capped the four-run outburst.

Luke Keaschall also contributed a home run during the victory, helping the Twins overcome an early deficit.

On the mound, reliever Michael Tonkin picked up his second win of the season after working out of the late-inning situation.

Despite the dramatic victory, the Twins remain in fourth place in the American League Central Division with a 60-72 record, continuing to battle through a challenging season.

The series continues Wednesday night as Minnesota sends right-hander Simeon Woods Richardson to the mound to face Toronto in the finale of their brief two-game set at Rogers Centre. First pitch is at 6:07 p.m.

They will also play a weekend series against the Phillies in August, and one of those contests will be played in Iowa as the Field of Dreams game.
