Detroit Lakes – Detroit Lakes’ Disabled American Veterans (DAV) Chapter 31 cut the ribbon Monday on a brand-new amenity for the community — a premier ADA-accessible dock located across from Lakeside on the City Beach.
The new dock features a wide layout designed to accommodate individuals with disabilities, a special ramp to assist with boarding watercraft, and a canoe/kayak launch. Built from maintenance-free materials, the system is intended to provide safe, easy access to water recreation for years to come.
DAV Chapter 31 sponsored the project as part of its mission to support veterans and expand accessibility. “We hope this new community asset helps those in need enjoy the many outdoor water activities our beautiful town has to offer for generations to come,” the group said in a statement.
Organizers expressed gratitude to all who contributed their time, effort, and resources to make the dock a reality, noting that impactful projects like this require initiative, dedication, and perseverance.
