Moorhead Standoff Comes to an End

(KFGO) A man who led a Clay County Deputy on a brief pursuit this morning and entered a house on 40th avenue south in Moorhead was taken to a Fargo hospital by ambulance after a more than three-hour standoff with police.  He was later taken to jail.  Sheriff Mark Empting says a deputy attempted a traffic stop when the driver took off.

A state trooper used a tire-deflation device on the car, which crashed in a field. The driver then ran to the west and went into a house.

The two people inside the house, a woman and a child, were not aware that the man was inside until law enforcement arrived.  They were safely evacuated.  The man was arrested after a series of commands for him to surrender over a police loudspeaker.

Red River Valley Swat responded with an armored vehicle and about a dozen officers.
