Two-Vehicle Crash on Highway 34 Sunday Sends One to Hospital

A two-vehicle crash on Highway 34 east of Detroit Lakes, Sunday evening sent one person to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.

The collision occurred near milepost 38 at approximately 8:30 p.m., when a 2025 Ford F-350, driven by 61-year-old from Detroit Lakes, had stopped in the eastbound lane to make a left turn into a driveway. At that time, a 2008 Ford F-250, also traveling eastbound, struck the man’s vehicle from behind.

The 18-year-old female driver of the F-250, from Detroit Lakes, was transported to St. Mary’s Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Her 13-year-old female passenger, also from Detroit Lakes, was evaluated at the scene but did not require hospitalization.

The driver of the F-350 was uninjured in the crash. All parties involved were wearing seat belts, and no alcohol was involved.

The road was dry at the time of the crash.

Responding agencies included the Becker County Sheriff’s Office, Detroit Lakes Fire Department, and St. Mary’s EMS.

The State Patrol continues to investigate the incident.
