DETROIT LAKES, Minn. – A popular stretch of West Lake Drive will be closed to traffic on Wednesday, July 9, to accommodate Cruise Night festivities in Detroit Lakes.
City officials announced that West Lake Drive will be closed from Rossman Avenue to North Shore Drive between 3:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. The closure includes key intersections along West Lake Drive at Summit Avenue, Minnesota Avenue, and Lake Avenue.
The temporary shutdown is to ensure safety and provide space for Cruise Night participants and spectators as classic cars, food vendors, and community members line the lakeside corridor for the summertime tradition.
Drivers are encouraged to plan alternate routes and avoid the area during the six-hour closure. Detour signage will be posted to help redirect traffic.
Cruise Night is one of Detroit Lakes’ signature summer events, drawing car enthusiasts and families alike for an evening of vintage vehicles, live entertainment, and lakeside fun.
