Minnesota Flyers Gymnastics Held Ground-Breaking Ceremony in Detroit Lakes

By Dave Bishop May 16, 2025 | 3:53 PM

Minnesota Flyers Gymnastics held their Ground-Breaking Ceremony in Detroit Lakes on Thursday May 15th for their new addition slated to be finished in a little over a year. The current building is 12,000 square feet and will expand to 30,000 square feet. They’ve raised 2.2 million dollars of 3.85 million for the addition from private donors and businesses.  They were also awarded the new market tax credit.

The new addition will provide a gym for recreational classes, a new and improved lobby, offices, bathrooms, changing rooms, party rooms, Occupational and Physical Therapy rooms and a sensory room.

Minnesota Flyers Gymnastics serves 825 athletes each week at their facility.  115 athletes are on a waiting list to attend class but can’t because of a lack of space. Classes will not be interrupted during the construction of the addition.

“This capital campaign was more than a fundraising effort, it was a call to action, and donors answered that call with heart, commitment and purpose.  Together we’re creating a space that will expand our impact, welcome more people, and sustain our mission for fitness for all ages and abilities for generations to come.”  Leesa Lindgaard, Director of Gym.
