The Full Metal Jackets robotics team from Perham High School is making history this week as they compete at the FIRST Robotics World Championship in Houston, Texas. This marks the first time the team has qualified for the international event.
The competition runs from Wednesday, April 16 to Saturday, April 19 at the George R. Brown Convention Center. The Full Metal Jackets, known as Team 3297, are among seven teams from the Northern Minnesota Robotics Conference (NMRC) participating in the championship. The team earned their spot at the world championship through strong performances at regional events, including the Great Northern Regional in Grand Forks, ND, and the Minnesota 10,000 Lakes Regional in Falcon Heights, MN. At the 10,000 Lakes Regional, they were the top-ranked team and served as the captain of Alliance 1 during the playoffs.
