Congresswoman Michelle Fischbach says nearly 14,000 residents joined her latest telephone town hall, where she offered updates on recent legislation and answered questions from constituents across Minnesota’s 7th District.
Social Security Reform & Government Efficiency
Fischbach discussed the implementation of the Social Security Fairness Act, a bipartisan law signed by President Biden. The law is intended to restore back pay for teachers, police officers, and other public servants whose pensions previously limited their Social Security benefits.
Fischbach credited the Trump Administration’s support of automation and efficiency improvements with helping to deliver those payments faster. The Social Security Administration says over 71% of back payments have already been issued.
Support for Pregnancy Resource Centers
Fischbach also promoted the Let Pregnancy Centers Serve Act, which she co-sponsored. The bill would protect pro-life pregnancy centers from being targeted or excluded from funding due to their mission. She emphasized that many of these centers offer counseling, prenatal education, parenting support, and essential supplies for mothers in need.
Energy & Rural Economy
During a recent Western Caucus lunch, Fischbach spoke with Energy Secretary Chris Wright about supporting American energy independence and the role of biofuels—something she says is essential to Minnesota’s rural economy and producers.
District Outreach
The congresswoman has also been visiting local leaders and providers, including a stop at the Perham Rotary and a check-in with care providers at Browns Valley Health Center. Fischbach’s office has also held monthly office hours in communities like Park Rapids, Pipestone, Gaylord, Marshall, and Detroit Lakes.
