A 24-year-old man from Underwood has been sentenced to over five years in prison after troopers discovered a large quantity of illegal drugs during a traffic stop last fall.
Zachary Seaburg was pulled over in Fergus Falls last September. According to court records, State Troopers searched his vehicle and discovered a black bag containing 264 grams of methamphetamine, 24 grams of cocaine, and suspected fentanyl, along with drug paraphernalia and a baggie of M30 fentanyl pills in the center console.
Seaburg pleaded guilty to 1st Degree Drug Possession in February as part of a plea agreement with Otter Tail County prosecutors.
On Monday, March 31st, a judge sentenced Seaburg to 65 months at the Minnesota Correctional Facility in St. Cloud.
Authorities say this case is another example of high-volume drug trafficking affecting rural communities like Otter Tail County. First-degree drug possession in Minnesota typically involves 50 grams or more of meth or cocaine, with harsher penalties tied to larger amounts or repeat offenses.
Seaburg remains in state custody and will be eligible for supervised release after serving a portion of his sentence, based on good behavior and program participation.
