Minnesota Lieutenant Governor Peggy Flanagan, who recently announced her candidacy for the U.S. Senate, held a ‘Kitchen Table Conversation’ at Concordia College in Moorhead on March 26, 2025. The event drew a packed room, where Flanagan engaged with community members to discuss pressing issues facing Minnesotans. Topics included wages, health care, Medicaid, Social Security, and veterans’ benefits. Flanagan emphasized the importance of community engagement, stating, “Being in community together is one of the ways we can get back to who we are as Minnesotans. Attendees appreciated the opportunity to voice their concerns. Zoey Zachek, a participant, highlighted the significance of youth involvement, saying, “I just think it’s important for us to get involved as young people. Another attendee, Serahphina Basol, emphasized finding common ground: “Where do we overlap in what we want, where are our shared interests. How do we actually come up with bipartisan solutions that move us all towards something we want instead of breaking us apart. Flanagan’s visit to Moorhead is part of her statewide tour to connect with voters ahead of the 2026 election. She is campaigning for the Senate seat currently held by Senator Tina Smith, who has announced she will not seek re-election.
