Moorhead Police Captain Deric Swenson, who also serves as the department’s Acting Deputy Chief and head of Support Services, has been placed on paid administrative leave following a formal complaint.
The City of Moorhead confirmed the leave in accordance with Minnesota’s Data Practices Act, which prevents the release of further details while the matter is under investigation. It is unclear whether the complaint came from inside the department or the public.
Swenson, a longtime member of the department since November 2000, oversees scheduling, budgeting, and information services. No timeline has been shared on the duration of the leave.
City officials say the department will continue to serve the public while the process plays out.
