Otter Tail County Receives Grant to Expand Child Care in Ottertail

Families in Ottertail will soon have more child care options thanks to a $240,000 Child Care Economic Development Grant from the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development (MN DEED).
The funding will help cover construction and start-up costs for four new child care sites in the City of Ottertail, increasing child care availability by 50 slots.
“Access to affordable, quality child care is essential for families to live and work in our region,” said county officials.
The new child care centers will be owned and operated by the local nonprofit Three Little Otters, founded by Alex and Tyler Rupe.
“We are thrilled to bring more accessible daycare to Ottertail,” said the Rupes. “It’s been our dream to create a welcoming space for families and child care providers, and we can’t wait to see that dream come to life!”
State Senator Jordan Rasmusson (R-Fergus Falls) praised the effort:
“Congratulations to the community leaders who worked hard to win this funding. I was happy to support this project and look forward to seeing its positive impact on families in our region.”
The $6.1 million MN DEED grant program is helping 25 communities across Minnesota expand child care facilities and support providers.
