Detroit Lakes students, families, and community members are invited to celebrate youth and culture at the Detroit Lakes Public Schools Powwow this Thursday, March 13, at the DLHS Lakeshirts Fieldhouse.
The event runs from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., with the Grand Entry kicking off at 9:30 a.m. A special Princess & Brave Contest will take place for Detroit Lakes students, and a meal will be provided from 11:30 a.m. to noon for staff, drum groups, and registered dancers.
This year’s Powwow will feature Emcee Vince Beyl, Spiritual Advisor Mike Swan, and performances by The Tribesmen & Smokey Hills Singers, along with the White Earth Honor Guards.
Organizers remind attendees that smoking, vaping, alcohol, and drugs are prohibited on school property.
📌 Local Tie-In: Detroit Lakes has a rich tradition of cultural celebrations, and this Powwow offers a chance for students and the community to come together to honor Indigenous heritage and traditions.
